What is a Psychedelic Society?

A Psychedelic Society is an organization created to serve the local community by offering regular gatherings and educational events centered around psychedelics. Here’s how to know if your organization is a good fit for GPS:

1. Community First: Your Society’s primary goal is providing education and fostering community, not driving clients to services like coaching or therapy. We understand some leaders may host ceremonial events where laws permit, but GPS cannot endorse or support facilitators or ceremonies due to liability concerns. Our focus is on building safe, educational communities, and while we respect the diverse environments societies operate in, the emphasis must remain on community-building, not ceremonies.

2. Open & Accessible: Your community is accessible to the public through a website, Instagram page, Meetup group, Eventbrite page, or other social network that is independent of your personal business or services.

3. Established & Active: Your Society has been active for at least 3 months and regularly hosts events like talks, integration circles, and social gatherings (not just annual conferences).

4. In-Person Focus: Your organization primarily hosts local, in-person events, though we recognize hybrid gatherings may occur. GPS supports societies focused on building connections within specific geographic areas. Global online networks fall outside our scope, except for certain affinity groups (e.g., the Autistic Psychedelic Society).
